THURSDAY MORNING LADIES LEAGUE
Today, I would like to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Thursday Morning Ladies League Committee for their outstanding dedication and leadership over the past five years. Through their hard work, they have created a league that has been fun, inclusive, and welcoming to all Lady members, while always supporting the Pro Shop, Clubhouse, and Restaurant. Their commitment to building a strong, vibrant community of women golfers has truly been a gift to our club.

After much thoughtful consideration, the committee has made the very difficult decision to step away from organizing the Thursday Morning League. This decision was not made lightly, and it reflects the natural transitions that come with time and the changing rhythms of volunteer-led groups.

The Thursday Morning League has been a wonderful part of our Ladies Club experience, and its legacy will continue to be felt for years to come.

Please join me in expressing our deepest appreciation to June, Terry, Mar, and Kathy, as well as to Bea, Marilyn, Marion, and MJ, whose vision and enthusiasm gave rise to the Thursday Morning League and built the foundation for everything it has become. We are sincerely grateful for their dedication, their leadership, and for all the lasting friendships and memories they have helped create.

As we look ahead, we do so with gratitude for what has been and with excitement for what is still to come — knowing that Thursdays will continue to be a day of fun, friendship, and great golf for all.

Thank you so very much.

THURSDAY MORNING LEAGUE 2025
We are thrilled to share some news regarding the future of our Thursday league! After thoughtful discussions, the Ladies Club Executive and Sunset Ranch Golf Course management have worked together to find a solution that balances the interests of all members. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Revised Tee Time Structure: To accommodate everyone, the golf course will allocate blocks of 20 golfers in the early morning and 20 in the late morning on Thursdays. This ensures that all members who wish to play can do so at a time they desire. Please note that due to pre-booked events, some weeks will see all the blocks early in the morning and some weeks may show blocks slightly later. We appreciate your patience should sometimes not meet your first desired time.
  • A Fresh League Format: This new version of the league will look a little different, however there will still be a focus on fun, inclusivity, and camaraderie. Entry fees will be lower, and games will be designed to encourage participation from players of all levels.
  • Collaborative Leadership:  A new organizing group will work closely with the course and staff to create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for everyone.

The plan is to launch this revised league shortly after the Ladies Classic in May. In the coming weeks, you’ll receive further details on how to register and participate—so stay tuned!

Extending our sincere gratitude to Sunset Ranch Golf Course for their cooperation and commitment to ensuring that our beloved Thursday tradition can continue in a way that works for all.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and support as we embark on this new chapter together. We can’t wait to see you out on the course!

TUESDAY LADIES SCORING
Just a quick note about scoring for our Tuesday Ladies Days at Sunset Ranch!
Right now, we're collecting scores two ways — through Golf Genius (using your GGID) and with paper scorecards. To help make sure everything matches and is 100% accurate when it gets entered into Golf Canada, we're asking everyone to now do both:
  • Enter scores live into Golf Genius, and
  • Complete a paper scorecard for your group.
How it will work:
  • One person in a cart can handle Golf Genius, and someone else in the other cart can keep the paper card.
  • After each nine, the two scorers should quickly check that their scores match.
  • If you’re using Golf Genius and submitting your scores through the app, you do not need to hand in a paper scorecard.

If you aren’t confident using the Golf Genius app yet, no problem — just hand in your paper scorecard by 7:00 p.m. as usual.

We totally get that Golf Genius can be tricky sometimes — you're not alone! This extra step just helps all of us feel confident that our scores are correct.

Thanks so much for helping out — and for keeping our Tuesdays running smoothly and fun!

I will advise if your scores are automatically sent to Golf Canada this Tuesday. If not, please keep a record of your own score to add manually.

MAY 27 LADIES DAY 1st SHOTGUN
Our first of four shotguns for the season is quickly approaching!

Tee times will be starting at 2:00pm. You will receive your tee times and starting holes closer to the event. If you do NOT want to play in this Ladies Day event, you will need to contact Reed at the ProShop to advise asap to ensure we are able to accommodate as many golfers as possible in the ShotGun. Only ladies playing in the ShotGun will be eligible for weekly Ladies Day Prizes and Competitions.

A special buffet will be offered. I will provide more details about the buffet once I have spoken with Monika (Events Manager at Sunset Ranch)

HOME & AWAY CHALLENGES
Sue Torvik would like to thank all the ladies who have signed up for 4 Home & Away Challenges.

There's been a resounding response with a spare list!

1st Event : Home game at Sunset against Vernon on May 15th. 10:00 starting tee times. Away game against Vernon May 29th.

As always please contact me if you have any questions !

March 12, 2025

I hope this email finds you all in good health and high spirits. We have a lot to catch up on since our last meeting in October, and I'm excited to reconnect with each of you.

Over the past few months, there have been many changes within our club, some of which have been quite significant. I want to assure you that we are diligently working to ensure that these changes will lead to a successful and enriching year for all of us.

1. Pre-arranged tee times
- Unfortunately, we are no longer offered prearranged tee times. Going forward, prearranged tee times will be allocated only on Tuesday Ladies Day by completion of ballots.

2. Thursday "League" continuation
- There have been concerns about the future of our Thursday league. I am pleased to inform you that we have worked diligently with Jeff and Keith to find a solution. Thursday league will continue as planned. The Thursday organizers will provide more detailed information in due course. In the meantime, please make sure you register on Golf Genius as per previous years.

3. Enhancements based on feedback from the October meeting and some adjustments.
- I will be expanding on the enhancements at April 14th Welcome meeting.
- DRAW PRIZES: Improvements in both quantity and quality of draw prizes,
- 50-50 CHANGE: The 50-50 draw has now been renamed the "Honey Pot" (DETAILS BELOW) with some exciting new features.

4. Ladies Day competitions
- As discussed in October, we are moving to one flight in the competitive (Handicapped) division based on net scores played from any tee box.
- The Callaway division is reserved for golfers WITHOUT a Golf Canada handicap.

5. 4 Shotguns per year (May, June, July, Aug - Wind up)
- With a buffet offering and "live" prize presentations.

Further explanation of 50-50 to Honey Pot.
I want to inform you about some important changes to our weekly entry fees and how these adjustments will help us continue to host the events and activities that make our club so special.

Starting this season, we will be making two key changes to our Tuesday weekly golf events:

1. Elimination of the 50/50 Draw:
After careful consideration and consultation with the Golf Course, we (Ladies Club Committee) have decided to discontinue the 50/50 draw. While this has been a fun and popular feature in the past, we believe it’s time to introduce something new that will add even more excitement to our weekly games.

2. Introduction of the weekly "Honey Pot" Special Draw:
In place of the 50/50 draw, we are thrilled to introduce the Honey Pot" Special Draw! This new feature will allow golfers to win a weekly prize pool throughout the season. A portion of each week's entry fees will contribute to the Honey Pot, and there will be three great gift card payouts each week. This change not only adds a fresh twist to our weekly games but also encourages participation and camaraderie among our members. Gift Cards are eligible to be used for any goods & services offered at Sunset. (including next year's golf fees 😊)

Why These Changes Matter:

Breakdown of $15.00:
- $2.00 Ladies Club
- $0.50 Ladies Year end wind up
- $0.25 Golden Egg Draw
- $5.00 Honey Pot (50% to Ladies Club/50% 3 weekly Gift card winners)
- $7.25 Draw & Skill prizes (draw prizes 50% Gift Cards to ProShop, 50% Proshop merchandise.

This is an increase of ($1.00 to Ladies Club and $1.00 Draw & Skill Prizes). The Honey Pot is equal to what a previous 50/50 ticket was ($5.00) Overall increase is $2.00/week.

The weekly entry fee ($15.00) is a vital part of what allows the Sunset Ranch Ladies Club to thrive. As advised by Keith (our new head pro) our Ladies day fee is on the lower side of other Ladies clubs in the valley. These funds enable us to host several events throughout the season, including tournaments, social gatherings, and awards ceremonies. They also help us maintain the high standards of our club and support initiatives that benefit all members. By participating in our weekly games and contributing to the Honey Pot, you are directly supporting the success and sustainability of our club.

We understand that some changes may not be popular with all participants; however, the golf course and Ladies Club Committee agree that this is the best direction for the future. If you feel that you are not interested in the weekly fee to play on Ladies Day you have the choice to opt out and make your own tee times outside of the pre-arranged balloted tee times.

We are confident that these changes will enhance your experience and provide even more opportunities for fun and friendly competition. Your continued support and enthusiasm are what make our club so special, and we are grateful for your commitment to the Sunset Ranch Ladies Day.

If you have any questions or feedback about these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of the Ladies Club Committee. We value your input and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Jeff Richard at Sunset Ranch will also make himself available for anyone requiring more information.

Thank you for being a part of the Sunset Ranch Ladies Golf Club. Here’s to a season filled with great golf, new memories, and exciting wins!

IN CLOSING PLEASE MARK THE DATE APRIL 14 2025 FOR WELCOME MEETING. YOU WILL BE ADVISED WHEN REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE OF GOLF GENIUS!
